| Located in a
world-class grape growing climate, Holman Ranch has a small
family vineyard in production. Renowned Carmel Valley wineries
such as Parsonage and Bernardus flourish nearby. Planted in
2000, the estate vineyard quickly expressed itself as an
exceptional sight for Pinot Noir.
Region
Located in the
heart of Carmel Valley at the northern end of the Carmel Valley

Climate
The warmth of our
inland valley coupled with the cooling coastal breezes provides
an ideal microclimate for the production of Pinot Noir.
Terroir
The perfect blend
of ideal climate, southerm exposure and thin rocky soils
provides an excellent environment for the growing of Burgundian
Clones.
Clones
In an effort to provide complexity while maintaining the
delicate varietal character, the vineyard is planted to Dijon
Pinot Noir clones 667 and 777.
Harvest
The
year 2007 was characterized by low winter rainfall which left
the grapes hungry for water. This early stress enabled us to
keep yields very low. We were all a little chilly with a very
cool, dry spring. This led to smaller clusters and lower bunch
weights. As a result, the fruit is very concentrated. Yields
were down 20-50% which gave us a Pinot Noir with amazing color
and excellent flavors. |
